WuBB Tour 8: Picturesque waterways and animal inhabitants of floodplain landscapes along the Hohe Mark Steig

You start at the Datteln, Schleuse-Ahsen bus stop, which you can reach with bus line 288. The 8,6 km route leads partly along the Wesel-Datteln Canal and partly through the Lippe meadows until you cross the Lippe River. After another 4 km, you have the option of taking a short 0,6 km round trip to the Steverstrand beach. Here you can take a break and enjoy the view of the three-arched bridge that once carried the Dortmund-Ems Canal over the Stever! To return to the Hohe Mark Steig trail, you still have 3,2 km to go until you reach the natural swimming pool in Olfen. From here, follow hiking trail X1 for 2,6 km to the center of Olfen.

Tips for on the go:

• Watch the lock of a ship in Ahsen, very interesting not only for children!
• Enjoy the view in the Lippeauen!
• Lunch break with a stop at the Steverstrand restaurant on the beautiful terrace or a picnic in the great outdoors
• Swimming in the natural pool in Olfen
• Stroll through town with ice cream in Olfen

From the "Mobilpunkt Stadthalle Olfen" bus stop you can travel towards Lüdinghausen or Münster.
