Varied landscape views and diverse nature experiences

The pandemic gives the Hohe Mark Steig a new meaning. Travel is forbidden, meetings in closed rooms are taboo, events are canceled. Hiking in front of the front door is always possible, company on the Hohe Mark Steig is offered by deep forests, fantastic panoramic views and in some places water as far as the eye can see.

“Hiking is experiencing a huge boom. Especially in times of the pandemic, recreational sport is a welcome break from everyday life for many people, ”explains RVR Regional Director Karola Geiß-Netthöfel. “With the Hohe Mark Steig we are adding an attractive, high-quality long-distance hiking trail to the Wanderrevier.ruhr, which can be reached without a long journey.

“The Hohe Mark Steig long-distance hiking trail is a real pearl among the many hiking trails in our region. The funding from the European Regional Development Fund and from the state's funding program, approved by the Münster district government, was invested in the best possible way. I have already hiked parts of the trail myself and can unreservedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys exercise and nature, ”affirmed the District President Dorothee Feller.
